Meet the board

Hi Lene Mürer, new board member of NCN since earlier this year! Tell us a little about yourself!

– I am 63 years old and work in Lillestrøm Municipality as Director of Society and Culture. This area of service includes municipal planning, urban and local development, strategy and business, land-use planning, building permit processing, and the cultural sector. I hold a Master of Science in civil engineering, specializing in urban and regional planning and infrastructure. Before starting in Lillestrøm in 2020, I have held various positions in Bergen and Oslo municipalities, the Norwegian Public Roads Administration in Finnmark, Oslo and Akershus, Skanska, NTNU, and Tekna. I grew up in the Oslo area and have also lived in Trondheim, Bergen, and Vadsø.

So, Lene, what kind of value do you see NCN offer to its members?

– As someone new to this community, I have a lot to learn. NCN seems to be a collaborative platform with great potential. Together, we can strive to achieve something sustainable for everyone involved.

What will be your biggest contribution to the work within NCN?

– There are few Norwegian municipalities involved in the collaboration. I would like to help increase that number. In addition, I want to build on my experience from strategic urban leadership in the Oslo area and the exciting FutureBuilt initiative, where the major cities and municipalities in Norway collaborate effectively. Knowledge exchange, mutual engagement, innovation, and Nordic cooperation will be especially important going forward. We share a future with challenging climate issues, social and demographic changes, and complex infrastructure—alongside a turbulent world where democracies are being tested. In this landscape, we need each other!
